Certifications! A Path to Re-employment for Laid Off DoD Civilian Workers

By Tom Ruby, Outreach Specialist, SkillSource Group

DTAP (Defense Transition Assistance Program), a new program in Northern Virginia, is now offering no-cost Certifications to qualified applicants. Effective July 1, 2014, Certifications are being offered to civilian workers laid off from companies that contract with the Department of Defense.

Why Certifications?
In today’s rapidly changing employment market, Certifications are an impartial third-party endorsement of an individual’s professional experience and knowledge. Whether you’re about to be laid off (incumbent worker) or have been laid off (dislocated worker), DTAP can quickly get you a Certification leading job-seekers to high demand, high salary jobs.

Certification Examples
DTAP can fund the entire training tuition, book cost, and exam fees for Certifications such as: PMP, CEH, ITIL, CISSP, SSCP, CSM, CSPO, CCNA, CAP, CCNP, CRISC, CASP, FITSP, CISA, CLOUD PLUS, SHAREPOINT, NETWORK PLUS, HR MGT., SECURITY PLUS, LINUX PLUS, and many others. Training providers include local colleges, universities, and approved private companies.

DTAP Enrollment
Fill out a DTAP application, verify your layoff information, provide photo identification, submit a current resume, and identify the Certification you want along with your explanation of how it will help you become re-employed.
